VoIP solution keeps offices connected despite summer holidaying
With the Summer season in full swing, many small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will see employees taking time off to enjoy the sun, surf and thrills that come along with it. Thanks to a VoIP system or unified communication option, being at the beach doesn't mean an employee or manager is cut off from the business world.
According to a new study by a leading VoIP provider, the average SME expects to have employees, including management, out of the office for around 18 days during the summer months. Some businesses surveyed have that number as high as 36 days.
With a VoIP system in place, however, those days away from the office do not necessarily equal lost productivity. As mentioned in this blog, employees are finding themselves connected to the office for up to 12 hours a day, many of which is done without actually being in the building.
"The results demonstrate the extent to which telephone and video conferencing have become ingrained in the work habits of small business owners, since nearly half of the survey respondents say traditional, in-person meetings are becoming less relevant," said Glenn Bray, the senior director of a cloud technology provider.
The growing trend of virtual offices and the ability to log in from any place with a Wi-Fi signal has helped with the increase of VoIP options. It's easier than ever to stay connected with coworkers, even during a vacation on a tropical island.
