ShoreTel helps turn school bus into mobile classroom

Every conversation about unified communications leads to the question of how it helps mobility. Being able to take a smartphone and tablet and log in to all of the business critical information while on the go is a draw for many businesses. The Scottsdale school system and telecommunications provider ShoreTel have taken the idea of mobile communications to a new level.

On July 24, the two organizations announced the eCoach – an old school bus has been converted into a mobile classroom for the purpose of educating teachers on the latest technology tools and gadgets before they use them in the school.

"It is amazing the learning tools available to students today," said Kevin Gavin, chief marketing officer at ShoreTel. "The school district's motto of 'Engage, Educate and Empower Every Student, Every Day' is truly demonstrated by the technology being put into the classrooms within Scottsdale USD."

On the inside, the eCoach is a small classroom, complete with a business phone system and real-time communication set-up between computers and phones, as well as voice, video and messaging solutions. ShoreTel will also be providing regular  hardware and software updates to ensure the latest technology is implemented.

The 1,700 educators from Scottsdale's 33 schools are not the only ones that will be able to board.. Students, parents and community members will also be allowed to learn about the technology that is also used in the classroom.

Many businesses are implementing ShoreTel unified options. Schools in Ohio would be wise to partner with an IT consulting firm to incorporate a new solution.
