VoIP phone systems becoming crucial business tool

No company wants to feel like they are using solutions that are rooted in the stone age. Fax machines, a Rolodex or even pen and paper can be considered antique tools. The industry has also reached the point where traditional phone systems could be added to this category.

The reason for this shift is the emergence of VoIP phone systems and unified communication options. Business communication has evolved and is a crucial as ever. Using an internet based solution is helping companies save money while increasing productivity.

A recent article from Frank Griffin of Tech Zone 360 highlights the growing VoIP market. In 2002, there were only 121,000 VoIP subscribers generating $5.4 million annually in the United States. Currently, there are 30 million customers using VoIP generating $15.4 billion in revenue in the U.S. Global revenue tops $65 billion in 2012.

“The cost saving measure of Voice over Internet Protocol is undeniable for businesses, and the only thing limiting the service in some locations was the lack of reliable broadband services. Access to broadband will give them many of the tools VoIP makes available to individuals and businesses alike,” wrote Griffin.

He goes on to say that thanks to the increased availability of strong business networks and IT infrastructure, the VoIP market is ready to make several leaps and bounds forward.

According to a report released by Infiniti Research, over the next four years, VoIP will show substantial growth. Through 2016, the compound annual growth rate is predicted to be 6.46 percent, which shows sector expansion could be imminent.
